Investigation revealed 91 shell companies

The total assets of the companies amount to Rs 67 crore.

Kolkata. Along with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also probing the recruitment scam and corruption in appointment of teachers in government and government-aided schools in the state. Former Education Minister Partha Chatterjee and others have also been arrested in the case. The ED, which is investigating the money laundering aspect of the case, is continuously collecting data on the properties of the accused and the people associated with them. According to sources, now the Central Investigation Agency has found some facts related to 91 shell companies, whose assets amount to around Rs 67 crore. ED is busy collecting all the information about these companies. It is said that these shell companies have been presented as agro-based organisations. It has also emerged that these companies will be opened in the year 2017. In reality, these companies are listed in the documents, but in reality they have nothing to do with business transactions. Not only this, the assets of the companies in the form of profits have been declared to be around Rs 67 crore. Also, around seven kattas of land have been declared as immovable properties of the companies.

According to sources, the Central Investigation Agency fears that the black money received from the professor appointment scam has been transferred elsewhere through companies. In the investigation of the emails and some documents related to Prasanna Rai, who is accused of playing the role of middleman in the scam, some facts related to the companies have also been found. Rai has also already been arrested by the Central Investigation Agency and is currently in judicial custody.
