With Bangladesh cricket team led by Nazmul Hossain Shanto After Shan Masood-led Pakistan were stunned by defeating them in the first Test in Rawalpindi by 10 wickets, former Indian cricketers have sounded the warning bell for the Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team.
Rohit Sharma and Co. will take on Shanto and Co. in a two-match Test series beginning on September 19. India will play their first Test against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, with the second Test beginning on October 1 in Kanpur.
Bangladesh have beaten India in a Test, and it can happen again as the neighbours’ confidence is quite high after their Rawalpindi victory.
Despite the political turbulence in the country, Bangladesh cricket team put in a historic performance last weekIn the Test against Pakistan, Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim emerged as a hero by scoring 191. He was supported by Shadman Islam, Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the first innings.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan combined to take seven wickets and bowl out Pakistan for 146 in the second innings. With just 30 runs to go, Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam made no mistake and chased it down with ease.
Raina, Harbhajan’s alarm bell:
Both Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh believe that the same Bangladesh players can hurt India next month.
“Now a team will be formed for the Tests. Having the best players take part in the Duleep Trophy is a good initiative by the BCCI. When you play red-ball cricket, you learn a lot of things. You cannot take Bangladesh lightly as they have a good spin bowling attack and some good players who have been doing well for a long time. This series will be good practice for the tour of Australia.” YEARS quoted Raina as saying.
Sharing similar views, Harbhajan Singh said, “It will be a great series. The Indian cricket team has been very capable and has potential. However, we cannot defeat Bangladesh, who have beaten Pakistan in the first Test match against Pakistan. Sometimes, smaller teams perform well in matches.”
