Kargil Vijay Diwas: In the big announcement made by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, it was said that the period for kin of martyred soldiers to apply for government jobs will be increased from 02 years to 05 years. The dependents of martyrs will now be appointed to Group ‘C’ and Group ‘D’ posts in the offices of district magistrates, and also to Group ‘C’ and Group ‘D’ posts in other departments. Contractual employees working in Sainik Social Welfare Department will be given leave like sub-national employees.

Chief Minister Dhami made these four big announcements

  • The ex-gratia amount given to martyred soldiers in the state will be increased from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh.
  • The period for family members of martyred soldiers to apply for government jobs will be increased from 02 years to 05 years.
  • Now the dependents of the martyrs will be appointed to Group ‘C’ and Group ‘D’ posts in the offices of district magistrates and also to Group ‘C’ and Group ‘D’ posts in other departments.
  • Contract employees working in Sainik Social Welfare Department will be given leave like sub-national employees.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid tribute to the martyrs of Kargil

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid homage to the Kargil martyrs at the Martyrs’ Memorial at a programme organised at Gandhi Park on Kargil Vijay Diwas (Day of Valour). The Chief Minister also honoured the families of the Kargil martyrs. On this occasion, Soldiers Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi, Cabinet Minister Premchand Aggarwal, MLA Savita Kapoor, Brij Bhushan Gairola and outgoing Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama also paid homage to the Kargil martyrs at the Martyrs’ Memorial.

The brave soldiers showed bravery and indomitable courage in the Kargil war.

Chief Minister Dhami said that our brave soldiers displayed indomitable bravery and courage to protect Mother India in the Kargil war. The entire world recognised the Indian Army for its bravery in the Kargil war where they drove out infiltrators across the border in adverse circumstances. The nation will always remember the sacrifice of the brave soldiers to protect the country’s borders in the Kargil war. The Chief Minister said that this saga of Kargil victories is also incomplete without the heroes of Uttarakhand and this brave land will never forget the sacrifice of its 75 sons. In the cultural environment and ideas that have nurtured all of us, patriotism is believed to be the best of all kinds of devotion. The Chief Minister said that being the son of a soldier, he has seen the struggle of a soldier and his family since childhood.

The army responds today with projectiles to bullets

Chief Minister Dhami said, Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji was the Prime Minister during the Kargil war. We won the war and we also won diplomacy at the global level. Atal ji made arrangements to perform the last rites of the martyrs with state honours at their native village. The Chief Minister said that today, due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Army is not only becoming more capable and stronger than before, but its fame and glory are also increasing. If on one hand our government is stressing on modernisation of the army, on the other hand it is also increasing the facilities provided to the soldiers and their families. The Prime Minister is continuously raising the courage and morale of the soldiers and that is why the army is today responding to bullets with shells.

There will be provisions for reservation in government services for firefighters.

Even today, the Prime Minister paid homage to the martyrs on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas at the Kargil War Memorial in Ladakh. The Chief Minister said that there will be a provision for reservation in government services for firefighters in the state, for which a law will be brought. Soldiers Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi said that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is committed to the welfare of ex-servicemen and dependents of martyred soldiers. One member of the family of martyred soldiers is being employed by the government as per his qualifications. So far 26 dependents have been employed.

Shaurya Sthal is being built in Guniyalgaon.

The Uttarakhand government has increased the lump sum awarded to soldiers decorated with gallantry medals from the state. In memory of the martyrs of the state, a ‘Shaurya Sthal (Military Dham) with modern and complete facilities is being constructed at Guniyalgaon, Dehradun, in which the names of all the martyrs of the state will be inscribed. He said that a second Sainik Welfare office is being opened at Harbatpur.
