Bhagalpur NH-80: The condition of the Bhagalpur-Mirzachowki National Highway 80 is very deteriorated. The construction work on this road is going on. This road is being constructed with around Rs 485 crore. This is currently the main road for traffic between Bhagalpur-Kahalgaon. Though crores of rupees are being spent on the construction of this National Highway 80 connecting Bhagalpur to Farakka up to Mirzachowki, even after more than a year, not even 60 per cent of the work has been completed. Now, firstly, the incomplete works of NH-80 between Zero Mile and Mirza Chowki will be completed.

What instructions did the agency receive?

The Superintending Engineer of NH inspected the under construction roads of NH-80 and it was decided that now the incomplete works of NH-80 between Zeromile and Mirza Chowki will be completed first. After this there will be work at another place. He has informed the agency about this decision. Also, instructions have been given that at places where PQC (Pavement Quality Concrete) work has been done, it should be completed first. He has instructed the Executive Engineer to carry out the work at those places where one side was left after doing PQC.

There was negligence in Ghogha and Kahalgaon

In fact, during the inspection by the Superintending Engineer, it was observed at Ghogha and Kahalgaon that one side of the PQC had been left out. This is making transportation difficult. The agency has completed the PQC road at these places by 5 metres. The NH will be widened by 10 metres. Directions have been given to complete the culvert and minor bridge, where work still needs to be done.
