Dharmendra becomes Chief Secretary of Delhi

Delhi Government: The Central Government has appointed Dharmendra, a 1989-batch IAS officer, as the Chief Secretary of Delhi. The present Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar will retire on August 31 and Dharmendra will take over the charge on September 1. In the order issued by the Union Home Ministry on Saturday, it was said that Dharmendra Kumar will be transferred from Arunachal Pradesh and appointed as Chief Secretary of Delhi. Dharmendra has been a civil engineer and is working as Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh since April 2022. Naresh Kumar, the current Chief Secretary, Naresh Kumar, a 1987-batch IAS officer, was appointed as Chief Secretary of Delhi in April 2022 and his tenure was extended twice. During his tenure, differences with the Delhi government on many issues came to light.

Coordinating with the Delhi government will be a big challenge

There have been disputes between the Delhi government and the Centre on various issues. In such a situation, it is a big challenge for Dharmendra, who has been appointed as Chief Secretary, to establish coordination with the Delhi government. The Delhi government alleges that the secretaries of the departments do not listen to the ministers and work at the behest of the central government. At present, Delhi is facing many kinds of problems. The biggest problems are waterlogging during monsoons and rising pollution levels in winter. In such a situation, dealing with these challenges will be the biggest challenge for Chief Secretary Dharmendra. Not only this, assembly elections will be held in Delhi next year. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is in jail for alleged irregularities in the excise policy and many AAP leaders have been accused in this case. In such a situation, the conflict between the Delhi government and the Centre on many issues is bound to increase in the election year. In such a situation, the smooth functioning of Delhi governance will prove to be a major challenge for the new Chief Secretary Dharmendra.
