Your court: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kangana Ranaut has clarified her “controversial” remarks on the farmers’ protest, saying that she was not referring to them and that the statement was aimed at “anti-social elements”. Her clarification came after a huge uproar from the opposition over her comments on “hanging of dead bodies and rapes that took place during the farmers’ protest”.

Responding to Rajat Sharma’s questions on her iconic TV show ‘Aap Ki Adalat’, Kangana said she never attributed her allegations to farmers and only directed them towards the wrongdoers.
“What I said was that dead bodies were found at the farmers’ protest site and gang rapes took place. I never said that farmers did it but anti-social elements (‘upadravi’). I have the video of the recording with me,” he said on ‘Aap Ki Adalat’.
He went on to say that the farmers’ protest was “completely hijacked.”
“As a person, I feel that the world sees the truth but denies it and lives in falsehood. My comment was against the ‘upadravis’, not the farmers… I myself belong to a farming family, I used to take food to the fields for the farmers. My father wanted me to take up farming… My point was that the farmers’ protest was completely hijacked,” she said.
“Those who participated in the anti-CAA protest at Shaheen Bagh, getting Rs 500 daily and free biryani, were also seen at the farmers’ protest site. People have seen it. I can submit the videos. The same faces can be identified at the farmers’ protest site,” the BJP MP added.
Kangana on BJP snub on the issue
Reacting to the BJP’s statement expressing “disagreement” with her on issues related to farmers and making it clear that she is “not authorised to make statements on political issues”, she said the matter had been “exaggerated by the media”.
“I became a politician just two months ago. We have party guidelines, but the media went overboard saying that I have been severely reprimanded… People in the BJP love me, they are honest and sincere people,” Kangana said.
