Kangana Ranaut takes ’Tom and Jerry’ dig at Rahul Gandhi over ’Emergency’ film: ’Ghar jaa kar…’

BJP MP Kangana Ranaut took a dig at Opposition leader and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi when she was asked if she would like his new film ‘Emergency’. The film is based on the life of Rahul Gandhi’s grandmother and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

In an interview with India TV, Kangana Ranaut He talked about his film ‘Emergency‘ amid the controversy. ‘Emergency’ is a biographical political thriller that delves into the life of Indira Gandhi, who imposed a 21-month period of emergency from 1975 until 1977. In the film, Kangana plays the role of Indira Gandhi. The film also stars Satish Kaushik, Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade and Mahima Chaudhry.

Produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, the film is set against the backdrop of one of India’s most tumultuous political periods and promises to be a portrait of historic events. It is scheduled to release on September 6, 2024.

Many political leaders expressed concern about the film. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) called for a ban on the film, saying it could “incite communal tensions” and “spread misinformation”, particularly regarding the Sikh community.

Responding to the controversy surrounding her film, Ranaut said in an interview on Saturday: “My view of Indira Gandhi changed completely after making this film… I cannot prove that she died due to lightning… I have no problem with any organisation. I don’t want to belittle anyone. The intention behind the film will be clear when it releases.”

Speaking to ANI on Saturday during the music launch of the film in Delhi, lyricist Manoj Muntashir said, “Emergency is an honest film.” He was quoted as saying, “Emergency is a good and honest film and those who doubt that it will show only one side, there is nothing like that. I have had the opportunity to write songs for this film.”
