Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated three new Vande Bharat Express trains in a virtual ceremony. These modern, high-speed trains will operate on the Meerut-Lucknow, Madurai-Bengaluru and Chennai-Nagercoil routes, significantly reducing travel times and improving connectivity across India.

Meerut-Lucknow Vande Bharat: This train promises to reduce the travel time by about an hour, which will not only facilitate faster travel between the two cities but also boost religious tourism to key pilgrimage sites like Hastinapur, Mansa Devi and Surajkund.

Chennai-Nagercoil Vande Bharat: This new route, which will reduce travel time by over two hours, will benefit travellers heading to southern Tamil Nadu. It will be particularly useful for pilgrims visiting the famous Arulmigu Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai and the Kumari Amman Temple in Kanyakumari.

Madurai-Bengaluru Vande Bharat: This train, which will reduce travel time by approximately one hour and 30 minutes, will cater to a diverse group of travellers, including business professionals, students and workers. The faster and more efficient travel options will foster greater economic links between Madurai and Bengaluru, both important economic hubs in South India.

With the addition of these three trains, the Vande Bharat Express network now has over 100 trains connecting over 280 districts across the country. Launched under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, these trains are equipped with state-of-the-art features like Kavach safety technology, 360-degree rotating seats, Divyangjan-friendly facilities and Braille signage. They are set to redefine rail travel in India and offer unparalleled comfort to local and international travellers.
