MG Motor announces strong sales growth in August 2024
MS Motor announced a strong sales performance in August 2024. The company recorded retail sales of 4,571 units, marking a 9 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Electric vehicles played a major role in driving this growth, accounting for over 35 percent of total sales.
MG Motor offers a wide range of utility vehicles in the Indian market, including the Hector, Hector Plus, Astor and Gloster. The company’s EV range consists of the MG ZS EV, its flagship model, and the Comet EV, India’s most affordable electric car. MG Motor’s revised product strategy, particularly for the Comet EV, has been instrumental in driving sales. The company’s customisation programmes have contributed to a surge in demand for the Comet EV, increasing monthly sales from around 400 units to over 900 units.
As MG Motor continues to expand its EV portfolio, the company is gearing up to launch the MG Windsor EV. This upcoming model, based on the Wuling Cloud EV unveiled at the Indonesia Motor Show, will be positioned between the ZS EV and the Comet EV. The MG Windsor EV is expected to offer a range of features and compete with rivals such as the BYD e6, which is also undergoing a facelift.
The MG Windsor EV, which is scheduled to be launched on September 11, is likely to be priced around Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). This new addition to MG Motor’s lineup will further strengthen the company’s position in the Indian EV market and contribute to its continued growth.
