Acharya Chanakya believes that when a child is in his infancy, i.e. up to the age of five, parents should bring him up with a lot of love and affection, because this is the time when the child understands only the language of love. Behave like this for ten years.
According to Acharya Chanakya’s Niti Shastra, when a child is between five and ten years old, then the parents should behave a little strictly with him, i.e. they should scare him by hitting him with a stick, because this is the time when the seeds of values are sown within children and if they are not made to understand the meaning of right and wrong at this time, their future can be bleak.
Maintaining this behavior for 16 years.
Acharya Chanakya believes that when a child’s age is between 10 to 16 years, parents should treat them as friends, because this age is the time in anyone’s life when good friends are needed the most, so parents should try to be a friend to their child at this stage of their life, so that the child can share all his problems with him without any hesitation.
