Senior Correspondent, Deoghar: A railway employee, a resident of Jasidih police station area, working in Liluah, West Bengal, lost over Rs 3 lakh after falling victim to the scam by the cyber bully group Telegram. By the time they realised, the bully had completed his “task” and left. The said railway employee, who was a victim of fraud, reached the Deoghar cyber police station on Sunday afternoon to complain about the matter. On his complaint, the Deoghar cyber station police are investigating. According to information, the said youth, a resident of Jasidih police station area, works as a technician in Lilua, West Bengal. They said that they fell into the scam through Telegram. In fact, on July 28, he received a WhatsApp message on his mobile number about a part-time job to earn money by sitting at home. The person who sent the message introduced himself as an HR from Google’s promotion department in India. He said that he can earn up to Rs 5500 in a day by writing restaurant reviews through Google Maps from home. He is said to give Rs 50 for each review. After giving consent, a map link was sent for testing, which had the location of the restaurant. The victim completed this task.

How to get caught in the net:

A Telegram link was created, he was added and given some tasks, which were completed. He was also asked for basic information like name, age, job, WhatsApp number, city. After the victim completed the task, he was asked for account details to transfer the money and then he sent his bank account details. The first Rs 205 was transferred to his account. The next day, he was given a task to send a link via SMS, which he completed, then again Rs 205 was transferred to his account. After this, he was informed that the prepaid task would start from Rs 1,000, which he transferred. Rs 1,300 along with the earnings were transferred to his account. For this, his mail ID was created and added on a crypto website for Rs 1000. They managed to connect the names of different people and after completing the task, the money was again transferred. He then sent a link to a website and asked to register and follow their instructions. He transferred Rs 150 to her Telegram ID for completing some tasks. After this, some more prepaid tasks were given and Rs 58500 was credited to the account. After this the real fraud started. Send money after completing the first three tasks. After this, he kept increasing the amount and kept luring by transferring the amount along with the earnings. After this, the railway employee was told that he would have to complete the refund order which would be Rs 3,60,000 and on completion he would receive Rs 5,76,000. He had no money so he said that if he did not complete it, he would not receive any money. It was also said that there is a rule in the task that one cannot leave it midway. He threatened to freeze the account if left. Out of fear, he took a loan and invested the money, then he said that he would have to join the VIP number with Rs 5,76,000. If you do not join, you will not receive any money. Following this, when the railway worker searched for prepaid tasks on YouTube, he found that this task is a scam, in which thousands of people of the country are victims of fraud. The railway employee has demanded the cyber police station to intervene in the matter. He was caught in a prepaid task scam since July 28 and was defrauded of over three lakh rupees.
