At the US Open, Coco Gauff failed to advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament. On Arthur Ashe Stadium, the reigning champion lost to 13th seed Emma Navarro. The 20-year-old had a match riddled with errors, as she lost to Navarro 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 on Centre Court. After the match, Gauff said that she had some problems during the game.

“I lean a lot to my left side when I serve, and that’s something I’m aware of, but I think it’s hard in the moment to try not to. Sometimes it’s more of an emotional thing, a mental thing, because if I go out on the practice court right now, I would serve like 30 times in a row. I’ve done it before.

“I think it’s also kind of a mental hurdle that I have to overcome when the time comes… But I definitely want to look at other things, because I don’t want to lose any more games like this.” Coco Gauff said after the match.

This year, neither of the defending champions has advanced to the quarter-finals, as Novak Djokovic also failed to beat Alexei Popyrin.
