Hyderabad: Heavy rains continue to wreak havoc in Telangana. Due to the rains, many areas have been inundated, disrupting life. Floods occurred in low-lying areas of Telangana and many villages were cut off. Lakes, ponds and rivers are overflowing due to the rains. Railway tracks were also damaged, leading to cancellation of many trains. Meanwhile, a 50-year-old labourer was swept away while crossing the Naganul Wagu river in Nagarkurnool. Police and local youth saved him.

This is how the rescue was done

Police Chief Abdul Taqi Khan and Constable Mudawat Ramu saw a man hanging from a bush and floating in the swollen river. Without delay, both policemen reached the middle of the river. Local youths, with the help of a pickup truck, helped the policemen rescue the man who was screaming for help. The youths used pickup trucks to stop the flow of water. The police and a youth together made a chain to reach the person and pulled him out safely. Police said the 50-year-old labourer was swept away while crossing a flooded culvert. Luckily, he held on to a bush.

The Meteorological Department issued a warning

The India Meteorological Department has today issued an advisory regarding the cyclone originating from the Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in the next 12 hours due to the low pressure area. The Meteorological Department said that southeastern Vidarbha and Telangana, Chandrapur (Maharashtra) will be in the centre of this cyclone. According to the weather bulletin for the next seven days issued by the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of mild to moderate risk of flooding in Telangana on September 2.
