Caviar With vodka or blinis? Or how about caviar as an accompaniment? skin care Ingredient? While searching for skincare products, I recently came across the luxurious yet expensive Caviar Collection by La Prairie Switzerland. It includes products like Skin Caviar Eye Lift, Mist, Eye Cream, and more. Well, it seems that Caviar works well for the skin.

For those who love eating caviar but cringe at the thought of applying it to their skin, please relax: it doesn’t involve crushing and spreading tiny black, orange or gold fish eggs on your face. It also doesn’t smell fishy. However, these products can be even more expensive than real caviar. For those who don’t know, caviar is the unfertilized eggs (roe) of a large fish called sturgeon. It’s a delicacy, especially popular among the wealthy and elite.

Caviar extract is used as an ingredient in skincare products and is known to be a moisturizing and anti-aging agent. “Caviar extract is an emollient active ingredient that primarily benefits the skin by increasing hydration, moisture levels, and plumping up fine lines, while also reducing inflammation and protecting against oxidative damage thanks to its antioxidant properties, particularly vitamin E and selenium,” explained board-certified dermatologist Dr. Deanne Mraz Robinson in an article for Byrdie.

Some of the benefits of caviar include improving overall skin texture, protecting against UV rays, preventing elastin breakdown, stimulating collagen production, and reducing inflammation.

Benefits of caviar for skin care

Great Moisturizer: Reduces dryness and flaking of the skin, as Omega-3 improves the skin barrier and retains moisture. It also adds volume to the skin.

Fabulous anti-aging properties: It helps stimulate collagen and ceramide production in skin cells. A study titled Investigating the Anti-Aging Effects of Caviar Oil on Human Skin states, “In vitro, caviar oil enhanced adipocyte differentiation and increased lipid accumulation within cells.” This demonstrated caviar oil’s potential to mitigate skin aging and holds promise for application in anti-aging products.

UV Protection & Improved Skin Texture: Caviar extract contains “antioxidants that may protect against dangerous UVA and UVB rays, helping to minimize wrinkles and tighten skin,” dermatologist Dr. Cameron Rokhsar told Well + Good.

However, although it has all the benefits for skin care, caviar extract is not recommended for those with oily or acne-prone skin.
