Sumit Antil etches his name in history books and defends gold medal with new record at 2024 Paralympics – India TV

Sumit Antil has etched his name in the history books by becoming the first Indian to win back-to-back gold medals at the Paralympic Games. Sumit defended his gold with a new Paralympic record in the men’s F64 javelin throw of 70.59m at the Paris Summer Games. Sri Lanka’s Dulan Kodithuwakku won silver with a throw of 67.03m, while Australia’s Michal Burian took bronze with a throw of 64.89m.

Sumit had also won gold at the Tokyo Paralympics. He is the first Indian to win gold medals at back-to-back Paralympics. Avani Lekhara is the first Indian to do so after defending her shooting gold in Paris.

Indian star javelin thrower Sumit clinched his second gold with an impressive throw of 70.59m on his second attempt, breaking his own Paralympic record twice in the F64 category. He held the previous Paralympic record of 68.55m, which he broke on his first attempt of 69.11m.
