CBSE cracks down on bogus schools, issues show-cause notice to many after surprise inspection

A surprise inspection carried out by the Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE High School In 27 affiliated schools, massive irregularities were revealed. In a bid to crack down on the bogus schools, the CBSE conducted surprise inspections on September 3 in Rajasthan and the NCT of DelhiAccording to the board’s official statement, most of these schools were enrolling students who exceeded their actual attendance records, creating “fictitious” enrollments.

During the inspection, the CBSE found that the schools are violating the Board’s affiliation bylaws as well as infrastructure norms. In retaliation, the Board has issued show-cause notices to the schools that have flouted the norms. The Board is also considering taking legal action against such schools.

The official notice issued by CBSE reads: “Most of the schools inspected were found to have violated the Board’s affiliation bylaws by enrolling students beyond their actual attendance records, effectively creating ‘fictitious’ enrollments.”

“Furthermore, the schools were found to be violating the Board’s infrastructure norms. CBSE has taken cognizance of these serious violations and is in the process of issuing show-cause notices to the schools found in default. Legal action against those found guilty of non-compliance is also being contemplated,” the notice added.

A total of 27 teams conducted inspections, each team had a CBSE officer and a principal from a CBSE affiliated school.
