Promotion or publicity stunt? BoldCare co-founder offers Netflix freebies to fans

Rahul Krishnan, the co-founder of BoldCare, is back in the news for pulling off a marketing stunt on X. After trending earlier this week for sharing his credit card details and asking users to make transactions of up to Rs 1,000, he is back at it again, and this time, in exchange for the funniest memes, he is offering a Netflix subscription. This cheeky offer triggered an avalanche of responses, further cementing his reputation for unconventional viral marketing.

That’s when Krishnan challenged his followers with hilarious memes, promising a free Netflix subscription to whoever came out on top. His tweet immediately went viral as the platform was flooded with creative memes from users, all wanting the coveted prize. Some replies were based on the chaos that ensued in the wake of his recent stunt; one comically referenced Krishnan’s previous credit card antics.

X users also widely appreciated these marketing tricks by Krishnan. One user said, “Even if @oneandonlyrk offers the annual premium subscription priced at 8k INR to 2 people every hour, that would effectively cost him 1.92 lakh, however, the return through this marketing campaign will be far higher.”

 

The credit card trick that went wrong Viral

Just a few days ago, on September 4, Krishnan had shared his credit card details on the site, asking users to place orders for less than Rs 1,000. Soon, an online frenzy began, with Krishnan responding to users by posting OTPs for transactions on Beater , Zomato and Amazon. As transactions increased, so did the number of emails and requests he received, including requests for approval for his payments.

Screenshots shared by Krishnan showed emails with subject lines like “Sir, please approve your card payment,” replete with polite requests for approval for everything from food delivery to online shopping. The flood of such requests encouraged him to pause his spending spree at some point, and he even tweeted, “Okay, everyone, let’s take a breather,” before eventually declaring that his bank had likely blocked his card due to suspicious activity.

Bold marketing or risky bet?

However, Krishnan’s antics are sure to have caught people’s attention no matter what. BoldCare is a sexual wellness brand that has never shied away from provocative marketing, and its co-owner is Bollywood star Ranveer Singh. The brand previously worked with adult film star Johnny Sins on a bold campaign that sparked much conversation.
