“AI is often seen as a double-edged sword, capable of making remarkable progress but also posing challenges,” Babu explained. “In Telangana, our focus is not just on an AI-driven future for economic growth, but on ensuring that AI is trustworthy, transparent and aligned with ethical standards. We aim to democratise AI, ensuring that its benefits are equitably distributed across sectors.” He also laid out three key strategies that would propel Telangana towards its goal of becoming a trillion-dollar economy. The first is to have new sector-specific Centres of Excellence that will focus on critical sectors such as cybersecurity, semiconductors and finance, driving innovation and growth in these industries.

The other would be to have AI innovation hubs that would expand to second and third tier cities, ensuring that AI-driven growth reaches every corner of Telangana. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between urban and rural areas and create new opportunities for communities across the state.

The state also said it would implement comprehensive frameworks for AI governance, ensuring transparency, accountability and ethical development of AI. This would be done to protect citizens while promoting responsible AI innovations.
