New Delhi: Prime minister Narendra Modi On Friday he had a telephone conversation with the last group from India. Paris Paralympic Games medalists, calling their achievements at major events the “greatest gift to the country.”
PM Modi called on the medal winners of the Paralympic Games Harvinder Singh, Parmar Chapel, Pranav Soorma, Sachin Sarjerao Khilari and Dharambir. He congratulated them on their victory.
The Prime Minister said that the fact that the players have won medals is the greatest gift for the country. He also appreciated the efforts of the coaches who have been behind such fantastic performances of the players.

The Indian executed the ippon in 33 seconds to end the contest and take the bronze medal in the blink of an eye. Kapil’s triumph marked India’s 25th medal in the ongoing edition of the Paralympics.
Harvinder clinched India’s first ever gold medal in archery at the Paralympics. In a one-sided final, Harvinder defeated Poland’s Lukasz Ciszek with a straight sets 6-0 win.
On Wednesday, Khilari clinched the silver medal in the men’s shot put F46 final at the Paris Paralympics. Sachin secured the second spot with a throw of 16.32 metres, which is also the best in the area (AB). However, the Indian athlete was unlucky to miss out on the top spot by falling short by 0.6m.
The run of double podium finishes continued for India after Paralympians Dharambir and Pranav Soorma bagged the gold and silver medals respectively in the men’s club throw F51 final at the Paris Paralympics. Dharambir’s record-breaking throw equalled India’s tally of five gold medals that were bagged at the Tokyo edition three years ago. Dharambir broke the Asian record and set 34.92m as the new benchmark to bag the gold. His compatriot Pranav came close to Dharambir but ended up being too far off. He settled for the silver medal with a throw of 34.59m.
