Jindal Stainless supplies mild steel for Vande Bharat sleeper cars

Jindal stainless steel has supplied the stainless steel required to manufacture the sleeper coaches of the Vande Bharat train, news agency PTI reported, citing the company’s statement on Sunday, September 8.

According to the report, the Minister of Railways, Ashwini Vaishnavrecently announced the prototype of the train coach for which the company supplied high strength tempered 301L grade austenitic stainless steel. The sleeper coach of the Vande Bharat train is designed for overnight travel.

Grade 301L mild steel provides improved performance, durability, increased passenger safety, superior crash and fire resistance properties and lower life cycle cost due to its corrosion resistant characteristics, which provide long-term durability, the report said.

The first set of coaches is scheduled to be shipped by the end of this month and an official launch is expected by the end of 2024, the agency said in a statement.
