Weather forecast for Afghanistan vs New Zealand match on September 9
Afghanistan’s hope of taking better advantage of Indian conditions could remain a dream due to inclement weather in Greater Noida, the venue for the one-off Test match between AFG and New Zealand. The Saheed Vijay Singh Pathik Stadium, which is 40 km from India’s official Test venue, the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, has been receiving incessant rain for over a week.
Since last week, the Greater Noida Stadium has seen very little sunlight. And the day before the Afghanistan vs New Zealand match was no different. The incessant drizzle not only prevented both teams from practising but also prevented them from taking a last look at the pitch, which was covered from 9 am IST in the morning.
While Afghan captain Hasmatullah Shahidi seemed confident about how the team would perform, the prevailing weather conditions and the forecast for the next five days do not look encouraging.

According to weather forecast website Accuweather, there is an 11 percent chance of rain at 7 am IST on Monday. However, the chances of rain increase to 18 percent by 9 am IST.
The rainfall forecast in Greater Noida has risen to 44 per cent by 10 am IST, when the match is scheduled to begin at the Saheed Vijay Singh Pathik Stadium.
According to the Greater Noida weather forecast, there is a possibility of thunderstorm at 11 am IST.

Given that the ground conditions at the Saheed Vijay Singh Pathik Stadium have already seen ample rainfall in the past few weeks, it would be a big surprise if the AFG vs NZ draw takes place at the scheduled time (9:30 am IST).

Entry to the Afghanistan vs New Zealand match is free for everyone. There are no stands in the stadium, so fans can enjoy the match on the grass benches surrounding the ground.
According to media reports, fans will have to register online to gain free entry, but no official confirmation has been received in the run-up to the match.
The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority, which manages the Sahid Vijay Singh Pathik Stadium, has also invited fans to watch the match, but no details are available yet.
