Pakistan: Shots fired at Imran Khan supporters demanding his release during protest in Islamabad | World News

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has alleged that police fired on its supporters during a rally in Islamabad on Sunday. The rally was organised to demand the release of the party’s founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is currently in prison.

In a social media post, the party slammed the “heavy shelling” on “peaceful protesters”, calling it “Undeclared Martial Law”. The PTI statement on X read, “Scenes that Pakistanis have become accustomed to in this #UndeclaredMartialLaw. Heavy shelling by Islamabad Police on peaceful Pakistanis gathered in large numbers for Imran Khan and PTI rally in Islamabad. Shameful, despicable, desperate and cowardly behaviour by the illegitimate and authoritarian regime, again and again. Such shameful and illegal acts only strengthen the resolve of the people to fight for their ‘Haqeeqi Azadi’!”
