Hyundai Motor India Managing Director Unsoo Kim said the company’s SUV portfolio accounts for 67 per cent of its total sales, which is higher than the industry average of 53 per cent. “As India’s love for SUVs grows, our SUV penetration continues to grow. Currently, our SUV penetration stands at 67 per cent, which is well above the industry average,” Kim said.
The Creta mid-size SUV has already sold over 1 lakh units since its latest version was launched earlier this year.
Hyundai Alcazar 2024: Design and dimensions
The 2024 Alcazar sports a bold new design with connected H-shaped LED daytime running lights, a larger radiator grille, and a more muscular front end. The Alcazar now features 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, new rear side windows, and bridge-type roof rails. At the rear, the SUV has a revamped spoiler, bumper, and connected LED taillights with sequential turn indicators.
Compared to its predecessor, the new Alcazar is slightly larger in dimensions. It measures 4,560 mm long, 1,800 mm wide and 1,710 mm high, making it 60 mm longer, 10 mm wider and 35 mm taller than the previous model. The wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,760 mm.
Improved interiors and features
Inside, the new Alcazar gets a revised dashboard design compared to the facelifted Creta. The dual-tone cabin now comes in Noble Brown and Navy Blue hues, enhancing its premium appeal. The 6-seater variant also features ventilated second-row seats with foldable armrests for easy access to the third row. Thigh extenders and a range of advanced features further elevate the comfort and convenience of the SUV.
Notable features include a power entry device, wing-type headrests, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, digital key with NFC, over 70 connected car features, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, an 8-speaker Bose sound system and 6 airbags. The new Alcazar also features Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Engine options and mileage
The 2024 Alcazar offers two engine options – a 1.5L diesel engine that produces 115 Hp and 250 Nm of torque, and a 1.5L turbo petrol engine that delivers 160 Hp and 253 Nm of torque. As for the gearbox, the diesel is available with 6-speed manual and automatic options, while the petrol option is paired with either a 7-speed DCT or a 6-speed manual gearbox.
To enhance driving performance, the Alcazar also features three driving modes (Normal, Eco and Sport) along with three traction modes (Snow, Mud and Sand), plus paddle shifters and an idle start/stop system.
Price and color options
The new Hyundai Alcazar has a starting price of ₹ 14.99 lakh for the petrol variant and ₹ 15.99 lakh for the diesel variant (ex-showroom Delhi).
Buyers can choose from nine colour options, eight of which are monochromatic: Robust Emerald Matte, Titan Grey Matte and Starry Night, among others. There is also a dual-tone option with Atlas White and a black roof.
With its new design, advanced features, and competitive pricing, the 2024 Hyundai Alcazar is expected to increase its presence in the market, competing with models like Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and MG Hector.
