Mercedes-Maybach EQS electric SUV launched: All about the ‘second most expensive electric SUV’ in the Indian market

Mercedes-Benz India this week introduced its new premium SUV in the Indian market. The company launched the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV at a price of Rs 2.25 crore (ex-showroom).

Let’s take a look at the key features of the latest SUV:

1. The second most expensive electric SUV: The new Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV is the first electric vehicle from Mercedes to carry the Maybach brand. It is said to be the second most expensive electric SUV in the Indian market. Compared to the standard EQS SUV, the new vehicle comes with Maybach’s special design, features and technical enhancements.

2. Being the flagship electric off-road vehicle from Mercedes, the size of the Maybach EQS 680 SUV is the same as the standard edition, but the company claimed that more emphasis has been placed on the branding this time around. It has provided huge black grille panels on the new model.

3. Vertical chrome strips have now been installed on it, forming the design of the Maybach cascading grille. In addition, the panel, being made of indium, allows radar rays to pass through it, making it look even more attractive. The company has presented the SUV with Maybach’s signature two-tone paint scheme, which is optional for customers.

4. Interior: The vehicle’s interior design is reminiscent of the older EQS SUV. It features a triple screen but with a Maybach-specific boot sequence. For rear-seat entertainment, the company offers two 11.6-inch screens on the rear sides of the front seats.

5. An MBUX tablet has also been installed in the rear, which passengers can use both inside and outside the vehicle. Two optional packages are available for the Maybach EQS SUV, including the Chauffeur package, which improves comfort for rear-seat passengers.

6. Customers will also be able to enjoy the First Class Rear package, which includes a heated cup holder, a shelf for the MBUX rear tablet, as well as four USB-C ports and two HDMI ports. Other optional extras include a folding table, a silver champagne flute and a refrigerator compartment.

7. It is worth noting that the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV is only available in one trim in the Indian market, which is called the 680. The dual-electric motor setup is capable of producing 658 bhp and 950 Nm of torque. This motor delivers power to all four wheels via the 4Matic AWD technology as standard. Moreover, the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km in just 4.4 seconds.

8. The Maybach EQS 680 SUV has a top speed of 210 km. The company claims it can achieve a WLTP-certified range of up to 611 km on a single charge.

9. The SUV’s 122kWh battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 31 minutes, using a 200kW DC fast charger.
According to the company, a range of 300 km can easily be achieved with a 20-minute charge.
