Apple Event 2024: Apple unveils slimmer Apple Watch Series 10 and new AirPods

Apple officially launched the 10th version of its smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 10, during its annual “It’s Glowtime” event on Monday.

The latest model features new 42mm and 46mm sizes with a 40% brighter wide-angle OLED display — the largest ever on an Apple Watch — making it easier for users to view emails and messages with an extra line of text onscreen.

The Series 10 is 9.7 mm thick, making it 10 percent thinner and lighter than its predecessor, the Series 9. Powered by Apple’s new S10 chip, which includes a quad-core Neural Engine, the watch also features a polished aluminum finish and a new metal back that integrates multiple antennas. It remains water resistant up to 50 meters and offers faster charging with a larger coil, reaching 80 percent battery in just 30 minutes.

An important new feature, pending FDA approval, is sleep apnea detection, using the watch’s accelerometer to monitor breathing during sleep. Users will be alerted to any potential signs of sleep apnea and will be able to share reports with their doctors for further evaluation.

Apple Watch Series 10 is available in aluminum and titanium finishes, replacing the previous stainless steel. It comes in silver, rose gold/gold, and black color options.

GPS-only model starts at ₹46,900 and the cellular version starts at ₹56,900. The titanium model only has a cellular version and its price starts at ₹79,900.

It will be available starting September 20. The watch will ship with watchOS 11, which includes several new fitness and health features.

Along with the Apple Watch Series 10, the tech giant also added a new satin black finish to the Apple Watch Ultra 2, which launched last year with the Apple Watch Series 9.

Additionally, Apple revealed the AirPods 4, which come in two models: the standard AirPods 4 for ₹12,900 and AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) for 17,900.

Both models feature a new design for improved comfort, personalized spatial audio, and improved sound quality. AirPods now include wireless charging and improved Find My features, and AirPods Pro will receive new interactions with Siri and a Hearing Protection feature with iOS 18.
