Petr Kratky He replaced Des Buckingham in December last year and took very little time to adapt to the Indian conditions. Kratky guided Mumbai City to the ISL Cup title and narrowly lost the ISL Shield to Mohun Bagan by a single point.
Every other team has brought in quality players and Kratky feels as many as eight teams will be in contention for the title this season.
“I don’t think there are just one or two or three teams that dominate the entire season.
“I think there are around eight teams in contention this season which is fantastic for us and we are excited about what will happen in Indian football and the ISL this season. But I think we will get closer and closer to each other, even teams struggled at the beginning but now they are getting better, people are coming and investing a lot of money and I think we will get better as we go along.”
The Mumbai City manager has also backed Mohun Bagan to offer tough competition this season. He also singled out Mumbai City as one of the contenders in the upcoming campaign.
“Obviously, Mohun Bagan. They have very good players. They have spent a lot of money in the transfer market. They will be one of the contenders. I will also bet on us. I am here to win. I would love to challenge for the top.”
Brandon Fernandes joined Mumbai City from FC Goa in the summer and Kratky reveals he is very excited to watch the Indian international in the ISL.
“Brandon is a very good player, he has a good character, he works hard and that’s all you can ask for. I have seen him play in important competitive matches and he is doing very well in training. I am very excited about Brandon and I hope he contributes to the team, the same way he did in Goa,” Kratky said.
