What makes Devara special for Janhvi Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Jr NTR?

Saif Ali Khan:

This marks the actor’s debut in Telugu cinema. For his first film in the new language, he has also dubbed his own lines into Telugu.

Excited about his Telugu debut, Saif Ali Khan He said, “I am very excited. I remember my first take, speaking Telugu and I had a little sweat running down my back. I felt nervous in a very different way. I mean we come from the same country but we are very different from each other at times and going there was a very exciting experience. It was very kind of Taarak (NTR Jr) and (Koratala) Siva ji to want me in the film because the films made in the South recently have been mind-blowing. Getting a chance to act in a film like this made me feel like a newcomer. I am very excited because I have spoken the language, it was a new language for me. I love the film and I love what I have done in it as well.”

Talking about his character Bhaira, the actor said, “It was a very interesting character. There is a young version and an older version, with crazy makeup. I wouldn’t call him an anti-hero, but a straight-up antagonist. It’s like a debut in a new kind of cinema, cutting-edge Indian cinema. So it’s great for me to be here.”

Janhvi Kapoor:

Like Saif, this is also Janhvi’s first Telugu film, but she called it her “ghar wapsi (homecoming).” For those unaware, Janhvi is the eldest daughter of Sridevi, who has worked extensively in southern cinema. Sridevi’s mother tongue was Telugu, while her father was from Tamil Nadu. This connects Janhvi to Andhra Pradesh on her grandmother’s side.

Speaking at the event, Janhvi said, “It’s my first film, actually I’ve been in films for a while now and my first Telugu film. It’s very, very, very special. Thank you so much for coming with such enthusiasm. I also want to do all the films with Tarak. I had a lot of fun. I learnt a lot and everyone knows that I have always been a big fan of his and I think I have become even more of a fan of him after working with him.”

Jr. NTR:

For Jr NTR, it is his first film after the global hit ‘RRR’ directed by SS Rajamouli. RRR is set to release in the year 2022. The actor will be seen on the big screen after 2 years. “I am nervous,” he said at the trailer launch as fans chanted ‘Jai NTR’ at the top of their lungs expressing their support for the superstar.

The superstar continued, “Also, ‘RRR’ was with my co-actor Ram Charan but this is my solo release after six years so there are a lot of nervousness but I am really happy to launch the trailer of ‘Devara’ in the city of Mumbai because the experience we had while promoting ‘RRR’ was just surreal. The acceptance from the North has surprised all of us. I hope it repeats with ‘Devara’.”

“Devara: Part 1” is set to premiere on September 27, 2024.
