Expressing concern over the inquiry process, Mr. Mishra said, “I have demanded a CBI inquiry into the deaths of Swami Laxmananand Saraswati, Mamita Mehar, Govind Sahu and Minister Nav Das as the present inquiry has created doubts and apprehensions among the people of the state. When asked about his distrust in the state’s investigation agency, Mr. Mishra clarified that it was not a question of doubting the agency’s capabilities but a concern that the previous government had exerted undue influence on the police and hence there is a possibility of the investigation process being compromised. Mr. Mishra said that when people do not trust the investigation process conducted by the Odisha police, then we must hand over the cases to the top investigation agency i.e. CBI.
