Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday said the government will procure soybean at minimum support price in Madhya Pradesh amid a fall in rates below the MSP level.

The minimum selling price of soybean (yellow) has been fixed at Rs 4,892 per quintal for 2024-25. The procurement will be done under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture.

“Farmers in MP are concerned about soybean prices being below MSP. We received a proposal from the MP government on procurement last night. We have approved it,” Chouhan told reporters.

The minister also said that soybean will be purchased at guaranteed minimum price in Madhya Pradesh, asserting that the farming community is a priority for the government and that it believes that serving farmers is like worshipping God.

Earlier, the Centre had given permission for procurement of soybean at MSP price in Maharasthra and Karnataka, he added.
