Actress Malaika Arora’s father Anil Arora died, allegedly by suicide, on Wednesday morning, police said. Anil Arora is believed to have jumped from the building where he lived in Bandra, Mumbai, at around 9 am on Wednesday, leading to his death.
Bollywood actress Malaika Arora and her sister Amrita were spotted at their father’s house. Arbaaz Khan, Malaika Arora’s ex-husband, and members of his family were also photographed at Arora’s residence.
Arbaaz’s parents Salim Khan and Salma Khan were also seen arriving at Arora’s residence after the news broke. Pictures of Arbaaz’s brother Sohail and sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri were also circulated on social media.
Malaika Arora was previously married to Arbaaz Khan and the couple was together for 19 years after which they divorced in 2017. They are still parents to their son Arhaan who is currently studying abroad. Arbaaz is now married to makeup artist Shura Khan.
Who was Malaika Arora’s father Anil Arora?
Anil Arora, a Punjabi Hindu from the border town of Fazilka, used to work in the Indian merchant navy. His wife was Joyce Polycarp, a Malay Christian, with whom he had two daughters, Malaika and Amrita. Anil and Joyce divorced when Malaika was 11 and Amrita was 6.
Last year, in an interview, she said: “My parents’ separation allowed me to observe my mother through a new and unique perspective. I learned a strong work ethic and the value of getting up every morning to do whatever it takes to become completely independent. Those early lessons are the cornerstones of my life and career path. I remain completely independent; I value my freedom and live life on my own terms.”

Malaika, a former model, was also a VJ. She has judged a couple of dance shows over the years including India’s Best Dancer, Nach Baliye, India’s Got Talent, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and Zara Nachke Dikha and Supermodel Of The Year. Apart from that, Malaika Arora also runs businesses like a yoga studio, a clothing brand and a food delivery platform.
Malaika Arora is also popular for her dance performances on songs like Chaiya Chaiya, Munni Badnaam Hui, Anarkali Disco Chali and Hello Hello among many others. She also appeared in the reality show ‘Moving In With Malaika’.
Arhaan Khan is Malaika Arora’s son with her ex-husband, actor Arbaaz Khan. His younger sister, Amrita Arora, has been married to businessman Shakeel Ladak since 2009. They both have children together.
