Exclusive: ‘Made In Heaven’ actress Trinetra Haldar Gummaraju opens up about breaking gender stereotypes and her journey in showbiz | People News

New Delhi: Actress Trinetra Haldar Gummaraju, who made her acting debut with the hit show ‘Made In Heaven’, is a doctor, content creator and transgender activist. In a conversation with Zee New Digital, she spoke about gender stereotypes and her journey in showbiz.

Q. From breaking gender stereotypes to appearing on magazine covers, what has your journey been like?

TO: It was a real roller coaster. I have never felt so good about the idea that life is constantly changing. You don’t complete a gender transition to get to a “goal,” because there simply are no goals in life. I never thought I would change careers and still do so, feeling this level of peace in my skin. I am grateful for everything that has come my way and I only strive for more beautiful experiences in the future.

Q. The role in Made In Heaven earned you immense affection and admiration. How does that feel?

TO: It was an experience I will never forget, being 23 years old and completely clueless in a starry, glittery world, hoping to make even the slightest ripple with trans representation. To see that translate into so much love within and outside the community is incredible. I don’t take my visibility for the trans community lightly and knowing that Meher touched so many queer hearts is beautiful.

Q. What keeps you busy these days?

TO: Recovery from surgery took a lot out of me, and thankfully I feel calmer now. I went back to work as soon as I could, shooting for brands and creatives as always, and telling the story I’d like to tell authentically. Shooting my first solo publication cover as a trans woman recently was fantastic! I just got back from an acting retreat that taught me a ton.

Q. What has your dream city, Mumbai, been like for you so far?

TO: Incredibly kind. Everyone has bad days, but I’ve been blessed (knock on wood).

Q. Who is your favourite Bollywood actor?

TO: Right now, Tillotama. I have a great appreciation for his endurance and his work. I just finished CA Topper and loved it, as always.
