Rock star Jon Bon Jovi helped prevent a potential tragedy on Tuesday when he persuaded a woman to jump off a bridge in Nashville, USA.

Bon Jovi, along with a video production assistant, asked the woman standing on the ledge to cross the railing to safety, The Associated Press reported.

According to police, the incident occurred Tuesday night on the Seigenthaler pedestrian bridge, which crosses the Cumberland River.

Bon Jovi, 62, along with his crew, was filming a music video on the bridge which remained open to the general public during the event.

Bon Jovi noticed a woman standing on the outside edge of the bridge, apparently preparing to jump into the river below. The entire incident was caught on surveillance camera and shared online by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

“A big thank you to @jonbonjovi and his team for helping a woman on the Seigenthaler pedestrian bridge on Tuesday evening.

Bonjovi “Police helped coax her off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety,” police said in a post on social media site X.

In a brief statement, Police Chief John Drake said: “It is necessary for all of us to help keep each other safe.”

In the viral video, the woman, wearing a blue dress, can be seen holding onto the railing as she stands on the ledge. As other people walked past her, further down the bridge, Bon Jovi’s crew appeared to be setting up camera equipment.

Shortly after, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer He walked towards the woman with a teammate and can then be seen waving to her while leaning on the railing, the BBC reported.

A minute later, he approached the woman and, with the help of another woman, helped her back onto the pedestrian walkway of the bridge.

Thereafter, Bonjovi I talked to the woman for a while and hugged her.

Emergency services, including police and firefighters, reportedly arrived shortly afterwards.
