Rourkela News: The double-engine government of the BJP is making efforts for the development of agriculture in the state and providing all kinds of assistance to the farmers. Under this, it has been decided to set up two agro-industrial units at Balanda and Kalunga of Lathikata tehsil. A total amount of Rs 134 crore and 80 lakh has been approved for this. State Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swai gave this information in reply to a question raised in the Assembly by Raghunathpali MLA Durgacharan Tanti. Raghunathpali MLA Durgacharan Tanti had raised a question in the Assembly whether the government has taken any steps to set up agro-industries in his assembly constituency. On this, Shri Swai said that the government is continuing its efforts at various levels to set up approved agro-industries through the Integrated Emissions Authority at the state level. Under this, Rourkela Sponge Limited will set up two agro-based ethanol and cogeneration industrial plants at Balanda and Kalunga of Lathikata tehsil of Sundergarh revenue district. A total capital of Rs 134.80 crore has been approved for this. Both these industries will create employment for over 150 people in the local area.

During this, various issues of the residents of Kate, Bijubandh and Rengali settlements of Tangarpali area under Lathikata block of Raghunathpali assembly constituency were discussed. He narrated how even after completing 77 years of independence, the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes living in these three settlements are deprived of basic amenities. His attention has been drawn to the construction of a metalled road connecting the main road of the three settlements and provision of street lights through RSP CSR.
