Indian government-backed ONDC launches Saarthi benchmark app for businesses to build multilingual apps for buyers

The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) has launched Saarthi, a reference application designed to help businesses create their own custom shopper-facing applications.

Developed in conjunction with Bhashini, Saarthi is an AI-powered language translation tool. It provides a comprehensive framework for network participants that enables seamless integration with ONDC, offering advanced multilingual capabilities for a more inclusive digital commerce experience.

Creating Apps for the Buyer

As a reference tool, Saarthi helps network participants build shopper apps with multilingual capabilities.

The app initially supports five languages ​​(Hindi, English, Marathi, Bengali and Tamil) and is expected to expand to the 22 languages ​​that Bhashini offers. This ensures that businesses can offer a personalized and localized shopping experience, removing language barriers and improving accessibility for users across India.

Offering multilingual features

Saarthi’s multilingual capabilities, including real-time translation, transliteration, and speech recognition, enable businesses to expand their market reach, allowing them to reach new regions and increase customer acquisition.
