According to Ford, negotiations are currently being handled by the two companies involved, not the governments, and it is not unusual for such discussions to take time.
He stressed that this agreement represents the largest transfer of jet engine technology ever approved by the United States government.
“What we said when we talked about this deal was that this was the largest transfer of jet engine technology that the U.S. government has ever approved. We’re talking about massive engines with thousands and thousands of parts that these two companies have to figure out how to put together. So I think from what I understand, they’re continuing to make good progress.”

Ford’s comments come in the wake of recent Security of Supply Agreements (SOSA) signed between the United States and Indiawhich aims to strengthen defense cooperation and integrate the defense industries of both nations.
He praised the SOSA agreement as a key initiative to improve supply chain resilience and security. The agreement is designed to address delays and gaps in supply chains by prioritizing the needs of each country’s defense industries, whether in times of disaster, peace or conflict.
Highlighting the broader strategic partnership, Ford noted that the collaboration extends beyond immediate defense needs to include joint efforts across multiple sectors.
The United States and India are working together on projects such as armored combat vehicles and jet engines, strengthening their defense industrial bases. This partnership also aims to enhance security in the Indo-Pacific region, with cooperative efforts involving ASEAN and other regional partners.
Ford concluded by underscoring the global importance of the US-India relationship. He said the combined capabilities and scale of both countries put them in a good position to contribute significantly to global security.
