Blackpink’s Jisoo turns up the style volume in Dior’s latest bag launch

Jisoofrom the K-pop The sensation Blackpink, is the face of Lady DiorJisoo, who is also the brand’s global ambassador, has launched her latest handbag campaign with a video and photographs of Jisoo, taken by photographer Bibi Cornejo Borthwick.

“Feel the energy of contemporary iterations of this House manifesto, each look a statement of defiance, quilted with the signature charm of #LadyDior Cannage stitching,” Dior said on their Instagram page. They also described the campaign starring Jisoo, whose “magnetic nonchalance is worn like a second skin” in ensembles by designer Maria Grazia Chiuri, where “subtlety is but a rebellious whisper.”

The K-pop star is pictured against a white background as she showcases Dior’s range of bags, which “channel the punk spirit into looks,” according to the brand. Adorned with eyelets and piercings, the medium-sized version has pearls dangling from it. Another bag features metallic studs and a third shows off a silver metallic version of the brand’s signature Cannage pattern.

“Maria Grazia Chiuri, artistic director of Dior women’s collections, has added new variants such as the Lady D-Lite and the Lady D-Joy, while prominent artists have customized the bag as part of the Lady Dior As Seen By and Dior Lady Art projects,” writes Joelle Diderich for WWD.

The bag, which Princess Diana first wore in 1995, has since been produced in a variety of colours, sizes and materials.

As the Korean wave, or Hallyu, spreads across the world, K-pop stars have become the darlings of luxury brands, with South Koreans spending the most. Jisoo became a global ambassador for Dior in 2021.
