The Greatest of All Time (GOAT)

Thaalapathy Vijay and director Venkat Prabhu’s The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) is having a phenomenal run at the box office. The spy thriller is completing a week in theatres with an aim to collect Rs 200 crore (nett) at the box office. The GOAT is doing well at the box office and is expected to boost its earnings over the weekends.

The GOAT opened in theatres on September 5 and grossed Rs 126 crore on its opening day worldwide. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film grossed Rs 44 crore nett in India on its opening day, taking the total domestic collection to Rs 170 crore.

GOAT’s gross collection in India currently stands at Rs 210 crore, making it the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year so far. Despite its huge numbers, the film failed to impress non-Tamil speakers, particularly Hindi and Telugu speakers, much.

GOAT is doing well at the box office and might surprise the worldwide collections of Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: II which has collected Rs 344 crore. Currently, Vijay’s film will soon be placed at the sixth position of the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time. However, it might be difficult to surpass Kamal Haasan’s Vikram which has collected Rs 414 crore worldwide.

The film did well at the box office in its opening weekend and the makers are hoping for a stable collection. It is interesting to see whether the film will surpass the success of Leo in the coming days or not and consolidate its position among the top grossing Tamil films.
