After independence, the Constituent Assembly of India accepted Hindi written in Devanagari script as an official language on 14 September 1949. After this, National Hindi Day was officially celebrated for the first time on 14 September 1953.

In the current era, multinational companies are also adopting Hindi language to increase the sales of their products.

World Hindi Day is celebrated in January

Just like Hindi is celebrated on 14th September in India, World Hindi Day is celebrated all over the world on 10th January. In the year 1975, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi inaugurated the first World Hindi Conference. Since then, World Hindi Conference has been organised in various countries including India, United States of America, United Kingdom, Mauritius and Trinidad and Tobago. World Hindi Day was first celebrated on 10th January 2006. After this, World Hindi Day started being celebrated every year on 10th January.
