Honda discontinues X-Blade in India due to poor sales

Sling Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has officially discontinued the X-Blade from the Indian market. Introduced in 2018, the X-Blade failed to generate significant sales for the Japanese manufacturer. The company has removed the model from its official website, indicating its discontinuation. However, there may still be a limited number of units available at dealerships across the country, possibly offered at discounted prices.

Derived from the first-generation CB Hornet 160R, the X-Blade featured a more aggressive and visually appealing design, with distinctive elements such as the front and rear sections, seat and tank covers. Beneath its sleek exterior, the X-Blade was powered by a 162cc single-cylinder engine that delivered respectable power and torque. A five-speed gearbox provided smooth shifting.

Despite its strengths, the X-Blade faced challenges in the competitive Indian market. Positioned below the CB Hornet 160R, the X-Blade lacked certain features such as a rear disc brake and a Combined Braking System (CBS). These omissions, coupled with the availability of many other attractive options in the 160cc segment, hampered the X-Blade’s success. The decision to discontinue the model underscores the market preference for motorcycles that offer a more comprehensive feature set and a competitive price.
