Food delivery giant Zomato has announced a major expansion of its on-train food delivery service.
Announcing the development at X (formerly Twitter), CEO Deepinder Goyal said the company now delivers food directly to over 100 railway stations across India.
Goyal highlighted that Zomato has successfully fulfilled over 1 million orders and attributed the expansion to its partnership with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).

How to place an order for train delivery
To place an order, open the Zomato app. In the delivery search bar, type “train” and select “Train Seat Dining.”
Travelers will be required to enter the 10-digit PNR number, after which they will be able to choose the station where they want their food to be delivered.
Once logged in, customers can choose a restaurant from the available options, add preferred items to the cart and choose to pay for the order.

Swiggy’s partnership with IRCTC
Not just Zomato, Swiggy also delivers food on trains. Earlier this year, IRCTC partners with the company that is preparing to go public supply and deliver pre-ordered meals at selected train stations.
Established in 1999 by the Government of India, IRCTC operates under the administrative control of the Ministry of Railways.
