Car launches this week: Facelifted Hyundai Alcazar, MG Windsor EV, Yamaha R15M and more

This week has seen some exciting developments in the automotive sector, with several new launches and surprising updates. The industry has introduced a range of new vehicles that showcase cutting-edge innovation, style and performance. Notable models include the refreshed Hyundai Alcazar and the latest Yamaha R15M.

Here are the top automotive releases and key updates this week:

Hyundai Alcázar

Hyundai Motor India launched the facelifted version of its Alcazar SUV on September 9. The new Alcazar is priced starting at ₹14.99 lakh for the petrol manual transmission (MT) variant and ₹15.99 lakh for the diesel variants (both ex-showroom, India). There are four trims available – Executive, Prestige, Platinum and Signature.

The model features significant updates at the front, with new H-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs) connected by a light bar and a larger grille with horizontal slats. The company has expanded the colour range with nine exterior options, eight of which are monochrome. The Alcazar also comes with three driving modes (Normal, Eco and Sport) along with three traction modes (Snow, Mud and Sand).

Renault R17 Electric Restomod

Renault has unveiled the R17 electric restomod, a modern interpretation of the Renault 17 two-door coupe from the 1970s. This project is a collaboration with French designer Ora Ito, known for his innovative approach to design.

The new R17 retains the classic look while incorporating modern technology. The latest version is seven inches wider than the original Renault 17 and its C-pillar slats pay homage to the original model. The R17 replaces the original 1.6-litre petrol engine with a rear-mounted electric motor.

MG Windsor EV

JSW MG Motor India has unveiled the new Windsor EV, with an initial launch price of ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The vehicle will be available in three variants – Excite, Exclusive and Essence. It comes in four colour options – Starburst Black, Pearl White, Clay Beige and Turquoise Green.

Reservations for the Windsor EV open on October 3, test drives begin on September 25, and deliveries are planned for October 13. The 38kWh battery powers an electric motor at the front that generates 200Nm of torque and 134 horsepower. The EV also supports DC fast charging.

Maruti Suzuki Swift S-CNG

Maruti Suzuki India has expanded its CNG model range with the launch of its premium hatchback, the Swift, in S-CNG trim. It is available in three variants – V, V(O) and Z, priced at ₹8.19 lakh, ₹8.46 lakh and ₹9.19 lakh, respectively.

The new Swift comes with a five-speed manual gearbox and features several standard safety features including six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) and Hill Start Assist.

Mahindra and Mahindra e-ZEO

Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited (MLMML), a subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra, announced its upcoming four-wheeler commercial electric vehicle, the e-ZEO.

The acronym e-ZEO, which stands for “Zero Emission Option”, highlights the vehicle’s environmental credentials. With its efficient high-voltage architecture, the new e-ZEO promises greater energy efficiency, longer range and faster charging times.

Yamaha R15M

Yamaha Motor India has unveiled the latest version of its R15M motorcycle, which features a distinctive carbon fibre pattern graphic. The metallic grey variant is priced at ₹1,98,300, while the carbon fibre pattern model is available for ₹2,08,300 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The R15M is equipped with a liquid-cooled 155cc engine, inspired by the larger R1 model. It also features an all-black fender, new decals on the tank and fairing, and blue alloy wheels.
