Haryana Elections 2024: The Congress on Saturday appointed former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, party treasurer Ajay Maken and Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Pratap Singh Bajwa as chief observers for the Haryana Assembly elections.

Kharge approved all three names

According to a statement issued by the party’s general secretary, KC Venugopal, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has appointed Gehlot, Maken and Bajwa as chief observers of the All India Congress Committee.

Voting in Haryana on October 5

Voting for 90 assembly seats in Haryana will be held in a single phase on October 5 and counting of votes will take place on October 8.

1,561 candidates filed nominations for the Haryana elections

Haryana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pankaj Aggarwal said that a total of 1,561 candidates have filed their nomination papers for the assembly elections to be held in the state on October 5. He said that these include candidates from different parties and independent candidates. The CEO said in an official release that out of the total 90 assembly constituencies, Bhiwani constituency has the highest number of candidates at 31, while Nangal Chaudhary constituency has the least number of candidates at 9.

The last date for name withdrawal is September 12.

The last date for filing nominations was September 12. The scrutiny of nomination papers was to be held on Friday and nominations can be withdrawn till September 16. In other constituencies, 24 candidates have filed nominations from Ladwa in Kurukshetra, from where Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is contesting. 16 candidates have filed their nomination from Julana in Jind district. A tough fight is on from this seat between Congress candidate wrestler Vinesh Phogat and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Kavita Dalal and commercial pilot and BJP candidate Yogesh Bairagi. 30 candidates have filed nominations from Uchana Kalan. From here, Jananayak Janata Party (JJP) leader and former deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala is contesting against Congress’ Brijendra Singh.

12 candidates submitted their nomination for Sampla-Kiloi

Twelve candidates have filed nominations from Garhi Sampla-Kiloi in Rohtak district, where Congress leader Bhupendra Singh Hooda is contesting again. At the same time, 14 candidates have filed nominations from Ellenabad in Sirsa district, where INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala is contesting. The ruling BJP is attempting to return to power in the state for the third time, while opposition parties include the Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, JJP-Azad Samaj Party and INLD-BSP.
