CM said that the roads in Howrah are in a bad condition. The drainage system is completely bad. CM also said that this is because the four MLAs and the chairman of the governing body are doing whatever they want. They are considering the corporation as their own. The rain affected life at many places in South 24 Parganas, Kolkata. Due to heavy rains, life is also affected at different places in South 24 Parganas. Common people are affected by the rain in Patharpratima, Namkhana and Sagar areas of Kakdweep subdivision. Diamond Harbour and several areas of Kakdwip subdivision are also submerged due to heavy rains. People are worried about the accumulation of water on the roads in many districts of Maheshtala and Bajaj zone. Since Saturday morning, the administration has kept a close watch on the weak embankments of the river and sea at Sagar, Patharpratima and Namkhana in Kakdweep subdivision as there is heavy swell in the river and sea. Torrential rains have continued in the coastal areas of South 24 Parganas since Friday evening. Due to heavy rains and strong winds, many mud houses and shops have been severely damaged in several areas of Kakdwip subdivision, including Haripur in Namkhana. Scores of trees and electric poles have been uprooted.
