In the coming months, the scheme will bring the National Payments Corporations of India into the payments system, which will do away with the requirement of matching cheques and bank accounts.
This measure will help reduce the time required to process the disbursement of the subsidy.
Back-end integration to make payments and apply for the subsidy through the national portal itself is also being accelerated. “At the moment, some back-end integration across the payment chain is missing. Once that chain is completed, it will reduce the time significantly,” the official said. A total of 385,000 installations have been completed since the scheme was launched, along with some rooftop solar installations inherited from the previous scheme.
With an outlay of Rs 75,021 crore, the Prime Minister Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana entails its implementation through power distribution companies and suppliers with rationalized subsidies and collateral-free loans till fiscal year 2027.
Recently, the government proposed a central mechanism for financial assistance and payment security under the renewable energy RESCO service company model and demand aggregation model of the scheme.
