Diamond League 2024: Star javelin thrower and Olympic silver medallist Neeraj Chopra on Saturday missed out on the Diamond Trophy title by falling just one centimetre short at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels. He finished second at the games.
Neeraj Chopra’s third javelin throw of 87.86 metres was second only to Grenada’s Anderson Peters, who threw 87.87 metres in his first attempt. Meanwhile, Germany’s Julian Weber’s best throw was 85.97 metres, which put him in third place.

Neeraj’s first throw was 86.82 metres, but his closest attempt was 87.86 metres on his third attempt. Peters matched this distance with his final throw. Neeraj made one last attempt in the sixth round, but fell short by less than one and a half metres.
Neeraj Chopra has reportedly been struggling with fitness this season and is planning to consult a doctor over a persistent groin injury that has hampered his performance and prevented him from reaching the 90-metre mark.
Chopra’s best javelin throw of the season came in August in Lausanne, with a distance of 89.49 metres, marking the second best throw of her career, and was four centimetres longer than her Silver medal attempt in Paris.
