Siddharth Nagar: Vinay Verma, MLA from Shohratgarh seat in Siddharthnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, has been on strike for six days, angry with the working style of the police. He is adamant in demanding the transfer of district superintendent of police (SP), Prachi Singh, from the government. Shohratgarh MLA Vinay Verma is an MLA from Apna Dal (Sonelal), an ally in the government. He has accused the police station in charge of Shohratgarh and Dhebarua of indecency and giving protection to drug mafias in the area. Making serious allegations against Siddharthnagar SP Prachi Singh, he has said that the station in-charges have been instructed not to discriminate against him or listen to him.

In fact, recently, during illegal soil extraction in Shohratgarh assembly constituency, a tractor trolley overturned and caught fire. The tractor driver was killed in the accident. The MLA accused the Dhebarua police station in charge of protecting some accused during the investigation.

He alleged, “If the MLA calls and pleads for someone’s removal, then nothing happens, but if a common man comes with an envelope, then the MLA’s plea is useless in front of him.” MLA Vinay Verma said that he has been on strike for six days. It is very important to remove the SP here and save the district. The district has become a centre of intermediation.

He further said, “I have spoken to the regional president and the state president of the BJP on this matter. After understanding my words, they asked me to speak to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. If the (police) captain is not removed, then I will sit on the strike peacefully and continue the strike for the remaining two and a half years of the government.”
