Google was not available to Android users globally.

American tech giant Google has finally fixed the server-related issue affecting millions of Android users across the globe. Many Android users across the world took to social media platform X and reported issues with the Google app on their phones.

“We have fixed the issue with the service. There will be no further updates,” the company wrote on Google’s search status web page.

According to users, the Google search bar widget briefly displayed old queries before crashing. Google Discover failed to launch, and tapping the voice search microphone also caused the Google app to stop working.

According to Google’s status page, the issue began at 10:22 p.m. Pacific Time (10:52 a.m. India time) on September 14. Google confirmed the outage about an hour later, at 11:07 p.m. Pacific Time (11:30 a.m. India time). Google acknowledged the problem and said it was working to fix it.

“There is an issue with the Google Search service that is impacting a large number of users searching in the Google app on Android. We are working to identify the root cause. The next update will be rolling out within the next 12 hours. The issue with the service has been mitigated and our systems are stabilizing, but we are still working on a fix. Affected users still experiencing issues in the Google app on Android can try clearing the app cache and data via the Settings app. The next update will be rolling out within the next 12 hours,” the search giant said.

While Google has not yet revealed the exact reason behind the outage, Downdetector.com, the outage tracking website, revealed that 67 percent of users reported issues with Google Search, while 30 percent had problems with the website. Additionally, 3 percent of users reported problems with Google Maps.

Many frustrated users took to social media platforms to report the issue to Google. Google is down Anyone else? It keeps crashing, wrote one user on X.

“How interesting… GOOGLE DOESN’T WORK. At least on my phone. Anyone else unable to open the browser on their iPhone or Samsung?” another user posted on X.
