ADRE Grade 3 exam review: Candidates rate Maths and English as easy; general exam as easy to moderate | Competitive exams

Several candidates who appeared for the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (HOUSE 2.0) for Grade 3, HSSLC level seats on Sunday found the exam easy or moderately difficult, with a majority of them rating English and Maths as the easiest among the five sections. The exam for HSSLC posts had five sections (Social Studies, General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning and Mental Ability, General English, General Mathematics) and 150 questions for a total of 150 marks.

Nilav Jyoti Sarma, a candidate from Bajali district, said he was satisfied with his performance but not with the overall quality of the exam. A Mathematics major, he found General Knowledge the toughest section, followed by Social Studies and Logical Reasoning. He found Mathematics and English the easiest of the five sections.

For Jutika Das, an aspirant from Tamulpur district, it was a standard exam with a moderate level of difficulty. She also found Mathematics to be the easiest section of all and General Knowledge to be the toughest.

According to Manash Pratim Das from Bajali district, the exam was easier this year compared to last year. For him, logical reasoning was the toughest section, followed by mental ability, social studies, general knowledge and English. He also said that mathematics was the easiest of the five sections.

Sujit Medhi from the same district said he was satisfied with the overall result of the exam. For him too, Mathematics was the easiest section while Social Studies was the toughest.

According to Barpeta candidate Mayuri Chhetry, the English section was the easiest section of the exam, while the general knowledge section was the toughest. A graduate in English Language and Literature, she rated the paper as moderate on the difficulty scale.

For Barnali Nath, another English graduate and candidate from Bongaigaon, the English section was the easiest in the question paper, while the Maths section was the most difficult. Overall, she rated the question paper as moderately difficult.

Mousina Nasrin from Barpeta, who graduated with honours in Political Science, found the exam easy. She had also taken the previous third grade exam and said that the exam was easier for her than the previous time.

Following the successful completion of the exam, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO, Assam) posted on X that the test was conducted for 11.23 lakh candidates, making it one of the largest public exams in the history of the state.

The state government took several precautionary measures to curb possible malpractices and facilitate smooth conduct of the test. Mobile internet services across the state were suspended for three and a half hours between 10:00 am and 1:30 pm on September 15.

Candidates had to go through a mandatory search before entering the examination venue and were only allowed to carry a limited number of items: pen, admission card, ID card, a small amount of cash and plastic cards such as credit/debit card and driver’s license.

A few days before the exam, the state government introduced the Assam Public Examinations (Measures to Prevent Use of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2024which provides strict punishments for persons who attempt to compromise the sanctity of competitive examinations.
