“On Monday I was injured during training and X-rays showed that I had fractured the fourth metacarpal of my left hand. It was another painful challenge for me. But with the help of my team I was able to participate in Brussels,” the 26-year-old athlete said on his social networks.

The metacarpals, also known as the palm bones, are the bones found between the fingers and the wrist in the human hand. There are five metacarpals in each hand and each bone is associated with a specific finger.

“This was the last competition of the year and I wanted to finish my season on the track. While I was not able to meet my own expectations, I feel that this was a season where I learned a lot. Now I am determined to return, in top form and ready for action,” Chopra said.

“As the 2024 season comes to a close, I look back and think about everything I’ve learned throughout the year – about improvement, setbacks, mindset and more,” he added. “I want to thank everyone for their support. 2024 has made me a better athlete and person. See you in 2025.”
