F1 team Aston Martin recently announced that it has signed legendary Formula 1 designer Adrian Newey. Adrian Newey announced at the start of the currently unfolding F1 season that he would be leaving Red Bull Racing after being with the team for quite some time. With the news that Adrian Newey would be leaving Red Bull, there were several rumours about the Briton’s fate. At first it was thought that Newey would join Ferrari, but soon the wind started blowing in the direction of Aston Martin.
It became official a few days ago when Adrian Newey was announced as the new member of Aston Martin.
Christian Horner gives his verdict
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has given his verdict on what he thinks of Adrian Newey joining Aston Martin.
“Well, it wasn’t a big surprise. I think it was becoming increasingly clear that this was the path he was going to follow, rather than retiring or going to any other team. Obviously, it will be a new challenge for him.
“We will be sad to see him go next year, but we wish him all the best for the future. I look back fondly on the nearly 20 years we spent together, the ups and downs during that period. But we look to the future and I believe we are well positioned for it.

“Adrian is obviously a very creative guy and he is not your average designer. I think he is the only person still working on a drawing board in F1.
“There will inevitably be a process in which we will have to get to know each other. [at Aston Martin]”We know each other, we know how each other works, but it’s unique in many ways. I think Aston will obviously look to draw on their wealth of experience,” said the Red Bull team principal.
“He still has one RB17 to finish” – Horner
Christian Horner also felt that Adrian Newey’s announcement was a little premature, as Newey is still under contract with Red Bull and is working on the RB17 hypercar.

“It’s obviously a significant announcement for Aston, perhaps a little premature considering they still have a contract with Red Bull until early next year.
“I can understand that they are excited about Adrian joining their team, but in the meantime, he still has one RB17 to finish. He is going really well and making good progress,” said Horner.
